Presumably these were LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, as you indicated later
in your note, and not LONG-BILLED CURLEWS? One Long-billed Curlew in E
Washington in October, let alone 539, would be noteworthy.

Keep those reports coming! 500 Long-billed Dowitchers would be a
respectable concentration in most parts of W Washington, let alone
Lind Coulee.

On Monday afternoon, 10/13, there were 539 LONG-BILLED CURLEWs and 2
BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS at Lind Coulee. There were no other shorebirds
seen. Not even a single Killdeer. This is the largest number of
dowitchers I
can remember seeing in one place. Over 500 were on the upstream side
of
Road M.

There was also a single GREAT EGRET at the coulee.
