Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 16. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On October 13 a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was at Frenchglen. This was a
different bird then the one there in early October. The SCISSOR-TAILED
FLYCATCHER continues to be seen along Highway 78 just east of Burns.

A BLUE JAY has been reported from Blue River east of Springfield. Up to 12
CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPURS remained all week at Wickiup Reservoir south of
bend. The RED-THROATED PIPIT has been heard calling from time to time but
has been very elusive. A CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR has been seen during the
week at the South Jetty of the Columbia River.

EURASIAN WIGEON and WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were reported during the week.
The recent storms brought many RED PHALAROPES to the coast and brought very
heavy migrations along the coast. On October 14 three PALM WARBLERS and a
GLAUCOUS GULL were at the South Jetty of the Siuslaw River. Two LONG-TAILED
DUCKS were off Boiler Bay October 14. A SAGE THRASHER was on the Bayocean
Peninsula October 13. Two PALM WARBLERS were at the Necanicum River mouth
October 14. Three PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS and a HOUSE WREN were at the South
Jetty of the Columbia River October 10. A SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was there
the day before.

On October 13 a HEERMANN?S GULL was along the Columbia River near the
Portland Airport. The next day two EARED GREBES were at the Columbia Blvd.
Sewage Ponds and 264 GREAT EGRETS and 500 AMERICAN WIGEON were at Bybee
Lake, both in North Portland. A SAY?S PHOEBE was near Corvallis October 14.
That day a RED KNOT was at Fern Ridge Reservoir. On October 14 two EARED
GREBES, a HORNED GREBE, four BONAPARTE?S GULLS, and nine SURF SCOTERS were
at Big Lake in Santiam Pass.

On October 11 a HARRIS?S SPARROW was in Moro. That day six RED-NECKED GREBES
and 60 WESTERN GREBES were at the John Day Dam on the Columbia River. On
October 10 two BOREAL OWLS were heard near Todd Lake southwest of Bend. A
PALM WARBLER was at Wickiup Reservoir October 9 and on October 11 a
GYRFALCON was there. A SURF SCOTER was at Malheur NWR Headquarters October
14.
