I spent just over an hour seawatching at the lighthouse in Discovery
Park between 1.15 and 2.20pm today, Friday. Quite a bit of activity,
though no petrels were seen. All birds seen were heading south in a
rather brisk wind:

2 parasitic jaegers
6 common terns
1 red-necked phalarope
300+ Bonaparte's gulls
30+ Heerman's gulls
14 rhinocerous auklets
2 marbled murrelets
12 common murres
34 american wigeon
1 surf scoter

There were also hundreds of western grebes lying in the sheltered bay
to the north of the lighthouse as well as dozens of mew gulls and
around 30 or so sanderling.
