In the Opinion Page of the Skagit Heald of 17 Oct , there was a column
by Bob Everitt, Regional Director, Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife.
The headline was that "Wiley Slough will be home to all Hunters, Fish
and Birds". There will be a public open house, Thursday, October 23rd at
Maple Hall, LaConner from 4 to 7 PM. Maple Hall is at the corners of
First and Commercial in La Conner.Purpose of the meeting is to discuss
the restoration of the Wildlife area. Hopefully, also being discussed
what is going on along Dike Road. A couple farmsteads have been removed
and perhaps the tree with the new eagle's nest destroyed. There was a
excellent photo op this summer with it's two fledglings. Thought those
interested would like to know.
