Featured bird is STILT SANDPIPER.

Sightings for October 18

Reported from the Reifel Refuge was a STILT SANDPIPER and a NORTHERN SHRIKE.

October 17

Seen near the foot of 88th at Boundary Bay was a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER and a
NORTHERN SHRIKE.

There were no reports for October 16.

October 15

A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen at Campbell Valley Park near the bridge
that is about ? way between the north and south entrances.

A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen at Iona.

Near 96th at Boundary Bay was a STILT SANDPIPER and seen near 88th was a
PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER.

October 14

The 3 AMERICAN AVOCETS were again seen near the mouth of the Serpentine
River. At this same location 3 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen in over flight.
Observed at Serpentine Fen was a NORTHERN SHRIKE. Also of note here were 2
late CASPIAN TERNS.

In the Ocean Park area of White Rock 25 to 30 SANDHILL CRANES were seen in
over flight.

A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was observed near the Stone Bridge at Stanley
Park.

Nineteen TURKEY VULTURES were seen in over flight from the Vancouver Harbour
Heliport.

October 13

A BLUE JAY was reported from the 100 to 300 block of W 18th St. in North
Vancouver. The bird is travelling with flock of a dozen Steller's Jays.
The bird is visiting feeders along this 3-block area and has apparently been
present for close to 2 weeks. It is said to be very vocal aiding in its
location.

Three AMERICAN AVOCETS were seen in the late afternoon about 50m upstream
from the mouth of the Serpentine River.

In Stanley Park near the Stone Bridge were 1 & possibly a second
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW. Also observed at this location was an
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER.

Reported from Reifel amongst the now 1000's of Snow Geese were 2 BLUE PHASE
SNOW GEESE. Also reported were 7 LESSER YELLOWLEGS.

At the end of 34th in Delta were 18 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and in over
flight near 34th & 33A was a GOLDEN-PLOVER of undetermined species. Three
TURKEY VULTURES were seen over the Roberts Bank Jetty. At the base of the
Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty was the WILLET and along the Jetty were 3 BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS. Four MARBLED GODWITS were present at the Compensation
Lagoon. A GYRFALCON was sighted near Delta Port Way & Arthur Dr.
