Well, maybe not really a "war," who knows. Anyway, I was sitting inside
reading the paper w/my door open to let in some fresh air. (Love this
balmy, warm-ish weather!) Slowly became aware of a ruckus in a nearby maple
tree out on the street. Could hear a lot of twittering, a few trills here
and there, and then a characteristic Bewick's Wren call followed by a brief
bit of wren song! Wow! In October! Grabbed my bins and went out to see
what was up. Turns out there were two BEWR chasing each other in and out of
the maple tree, up and down, flitting from branch to branch. I swear, at
times it sounded as if they were having a big argument, the birdy invective
was flying back and forth along with the birds. They kept it up for about
10 min., then flew off. A very nice bit of at-home birding today!

Cheers,
Mary
