Kelly and Tweeters,
If there are any answers to this question, there are a number of us out
here on the Peninsula that would be interested. The area up near treeline
gets little coverage in summer and none that I know of in winter when the
only way one can access it is with cross country skis or snowshoes. I agree
that we have almost no lowland winter records. Checking my records from 10-1
to 3-31, I have seen one with no yellow on Ediz Hook, Port Angeles 1-26-02
and on 3-19-94 I had a pair on Gibson Spit -- near entrance to Sequim Bay
(with no notes on appearance). This contrasts to many records in the same
period east of the Cascades where I have not made a great many winter trips.

Pallid Horned Larks breed in the Olympics at high elevations. Does anyone
know where these birds winter? According to the BirdWeb account, Pallid
Horned Larks winter in nearby lowlands, but Horned Larks do not show up on
the Sequim-Dungeness CBC in the 1990s. Where do these birds go?

Thanks,
