Hi Tweeters:
I was scouting the interior of Kent Ponds today, getting ready for a
public birdwalk there tomorrow. As the fog burned off just before
noon, a juv NORTHERN SHRIKE flew to the top of a snag, calling loudly.
The bird was quite dusky and had almost no mask on its face. An
AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was foraging on the gravel road and in the
bushes beside it. It was calling a matallic chip note. The bird was
alone. There were not any other sparrows nearby.
