Cleaned the chickadee box out for winter. They removed all the woodchips,
and used a base of moss topping it off with grass, spider web and animal
fur.
No unhatched eggs, no apparent bugs. Didn't get a good count of how many
fledged this year, but they were successful.

Had to take down a tree and found a bird's nest in the branches. I've
never
seen one like it, but I'm not a nest expert.

It's completely and perfectly circular and about 4 inches across the
sides
about 2 inches high. Sitting and bound to some crossed branches.
The sides go straight down and the floor perfectly flat, not cupped
shaped
but like something a potter might make.

Some material hanging down underneath but mostly just to help attach
to the branches. It is made out of long pieces of grass and lots and lot
of string, thread, small rope, wound tightly around the edges.

It's quite a work of art. Any guesses as to what it might be?

I would guess a largish bird compared to my chickadees and wrens.
Robins make a more cupped nest. Stellars Jay?

It's sad I had to take that tree out, but there's still quite a few for
next year.
