Rare Bird Alert for a HUDSONIAN GODWIT, BLUE JAY & WESTERN SCRUB JAY

Sightings for October 25

The WESTERN SCRUB JAY was again seen 4126 River Rd. W in Ladner. This house
is west of 41B & River Rd. Birders may access the property on the left hand
side of the property. Proceed to the back of the property to view the bird.

The HUDSONIAN GODWIT was observed around 10:15 at the foot of the Tsawwassen
Jetty on the mud flats on the north side in the company of 5 MARBLED
GODWITS.

A BLUE JAY was sighted around 8:00 AM at Point Roberts' Lighthouse Marine
Park. Also seen at this location was an immature HEERMANN'S GULL.

At the Mansion on Boundary Bay were 2 STILT SANDPIPERS. In a ploughed filed
between 88th & the mansion were the 4 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS along with 1
PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER and Golden-Plover of undetermined species.

October 24

The HUDSONIAN GODWIT was observed with 7 MARBLED GODWITS at the Tsawwassen
Ferry Jetty's Compensation Lagoon. Also present were 4 CASPIAN TERNS, 3
adults and a juvenile.

In a field between 88th and the Mansion were 7 Golden-Plovers consisting of
4 AMERICAN, 1 PACIFIC and one of undetermined species.

At Blackie Spit was a LESSER YELLOWLEGS.

October 23

A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was discovered in the company of 6 MARBLED GODWITS at the
Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty's Compensation Lagoon.

The CATTLE EGRET was seen on Westham Island, 2 fields east of Westham Island
Rd.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was observed along 72nd near OWL. Near 72nd & Hwy 10 was
a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.

October 22

CATTLE EGRETS were observed from 2 different locations. One in a field with
cattle near 72nd & 36th. Another was seen on Westham Island.

The WESTERN SCRUB JAY continued at 4126 River Rd. W in Ladner. This house
is west of 41B & River Rd.

Observed at Brunswick Point was a BARN OWL in the woodlot.

At Wellington Park was a WESTERN MEADOWLARK.

Two PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were seen in a field off 34th just south of River
Rd. At the opposite end of 34th were 30 LAPLAND LONGSPURS.

Reported from Reifel were 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS, 7 SANDHILL CRANES,
and a SWAMP SPARROW near the tower.

In a ploughed field between 88th and the Mansion were 6 GOLDEN-PLOVERS and 4
HORNED LARKS.
