Hi Tweets, with the recent rains I took a look out along Wenzel Slough Rd.
on Thursday morning to see what kind of waterfowl might be out. There was
lots of water everywhere along the western end of Wenzel Slough Rd.,
especially near Bill Goeres Farm. Not to mention I had to cut my trip short
due to the road being flooded over. Birding was generally slow with the
following species seen:

Canada Goose (4)
Mallard (1)
Ring-necked Duck (1)
Ruddy Duck (1)
Pied-billed Grebe (2)
American Coot (3)
Bald Eagle (1)

Also, along Moore Rd. there were two Greater Yellowlegs.

This morning I was out in the hills just north of Elma and had my first
sighting of a Northern Shrike. It was perched in the top of a hemlock tree
allowing great views. Also, I heard several Winter Wrens singing in many of
the clearcuts.

Lastly, does anyone have dates for the Grays Harbor CBCs yet?
