Hello all,
I spent the day birding in South King County with my dad. First stop we
made in the morning was at 277th, where we weren't able to find the Rusty
Blackbird reported by Marv Breece. Maybe evening is the time to try for
this bird. At Smith Brother's Dairy in the very flooded fields, several
Buffleheads were diving amongst the floating pumpkins. A Greater Yellowlegs
was with a flock of Killdeer on the shore, and a columbarius Merlin was
keeping the large flocks of blackbirds at such a distance that they weren't
easily scanned.

Inside at Kent Ponds, there were two juvenile Northern Shrikes, including
one which was harrassing an adult Bald Eagle in the west meadow snags. Both
of the shrikes were vocal. Nice views were had of an adult American Tree
Sparrow (this area isn't accessible). In the same area in the willows was
an Anna's Hummingbird. Several flocks of Dunlins were flying overhead.
Large numbers of waterfowl on the main lagoon.

Cheers,
