Tweets,

I headed over to Pullman last weekend to visit my kids and stopped at some
birding areas along the way. I stopped at the temporarily closed rest area
at the junction of highways 395 and 26 to check out the adjacent sewage
pond. I parked well off the highway and walked in. No sooner had I scanned
the pond when a state patrolman pulled up, eyed my binoculars with
suspicion, asked to see my I.D., and ordered me out of the area. I politely
apologized, claimed ignorance and left immediately. I guess "closed" means
to pedestrians as well as to cars. Thought this information may save other
birders the same problem.

(The only birds present anyway were a few rock pigeons sitting on the
drainage pipes. )
