Greets Tweets,

Yesterday, Sunday 8/31, I enjoyed a rare chance to take a long leisurely drive with my "non-birder" wife. (We're actually converting her, but slooooowly! Wer'e keeping an informal life list for her with 98 species on it.
Our route took us out to Vantage, up to Soap Lake and Dry Falls, then west across the Waterville Plateau to Wenatchee and over Blewett Pass. I was mainly interested in showing her some of the magnificent coulees our state has to offer. As the day progressed she got more into the birding and picked up 10 new life birds!

Here's our list for the day:
Eared Grebe
Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Canada Goose
Mallard
Turkey Vulture
Swainson's Hawk
Red Tailed Hawk
Am. Kestrel
probable Prairie Falcon (light underneath, classic falcon profile, but too far away to be sure)
Am. Coot
Ring Billed Gull
Mourning Dove
Rock Dove (now called Rock Pigeon?)
Say's Pheobe
Am. Magpie
Com. Raven
Am.Crow
Nor. Rough Winged Swallow
Violet Green Swallow
Barn Swallow
Mountain Chickadee
Am Robin
Eur. Starling
Savannah Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Western Meadowlark
Brewer's Blackbird
House Sparrow

And all the scenery! Not a bad day!
