Tweeters,

Brad Waggoner called me this afternoon to say that his brother, Dan
Waggoner, had discovered a juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpiper in Port Townsend.
We re-located the bird about 3:30 pm and took some photos. It was associating
with a few Killdeer in the lagoon opposite the Port of Port Townsend.
Directions coming into Port Townsend on SR 20: proceed down the hill until you pass
the Safeway grocery store. Take a left just past Safeway which leads to a
parking area with restrooms. The bird was last seen foraging along the shore on
the larger of the two lagoons, often allowing close approach. Feel free to
call or write for more information or more detailed directions.

Good birding,

George Gerdts
