Tweeters,

11:42am start: Water level at 9.8ft
12:15pm end: Water level at 9.8ft -- slack tide (high)
Virtually no unvegetated bank seen because of the water level.

Wow! The salmon were jumping seemingly everywhere in Turning Basin #3 during this period. None of the three OSPREYS (2 adult; 1 juvenile) that were at the Hamm Creek site were feeding on fish, but the Ospreys were cruising the area off and on. The juv was perched at the actual nest site for about 10 min. The local PEREGRINE FALCON was perched in a very different spot on the eastern power tower: below the top of the tower on one of the horizontal braces that runs the length of the tower above the catwalk. It was very alert, and was perched during nearly all of the observation time, but apparently flew off just before I "dropped 'scope." Tried to find it flying or on another part of the tower, but didn't see it. (Darn! I was hoping to see it pick off one of the pigeons or a starling.)

Birds seen during this period include the following:

Double-crested Cormorant (2)
Great Blue Heron
Canada Goose (15)
Gadwall (4)
Mallard (20)
Osprey (3; 2 ad, 1 juv)
Peregrine Falcon
Killdeer (4; flying around-attempted to land once, but no shoreline; continued to fly downriver)
Glaucous-winged Gull (2)
Rock Pigeon (56; I finally managed to get a good count of the pigeons across the river--35 of them were on an electrical wire near Highway 599--they all flew down to the dock across from me. The remaining 21 birds were on the Boeing site.)
Belted Kingfisher
American Crow (3)
Barn Swallow (2)
European Starling (<10)
House Finch (2)
American Goldfinch (2)

May all your birds be identified,
