Greetings,

Sorry for the late report.
3 Sept 03, went on my morning walk on the Loop Trail just north of East
Wenatchee, Douglas County. *Slowly* working the shoreline vegetation along
the Columbia River north of the 27 St Entrance, I encountered a good run of
warblers. Every thicket along the river showed good numbers of birds. At
first it didn't look like a good warbler day, but with patience the birds
kept appearing out of the vegetation.
Tennessee Warbler...one up close:greenish above, indistict eye line and
supercilium, white undertail coverts with a slight yellow wash. A touch of
gray on the auriculars. No streaking on the breast. Underparts paler than
upperparts- a green-yellow. Undertail coverts white with a slight yellow
wash, much paler than the breast. Life Bird. About .5 mile north of 27 St
Entrance. The number 4.5 spray painted on the trail here.
Yellow-rumped Warbler...now common along the river.
Yellow Warbler...still common, seeing more of the very gray ones than
earlier in the migration. What a striking difference between a very yellow
one and one of the very gray ones.
Grasshopper Sparrow...one with Savannah Sparrows sitting on a fence along
the trail.
Savannah Sparrow...migration strong with at least 50 tallied. Likely several
hundred present along the trail here.
Baird's Sandpiper...one calling as it flew overhead.
Great Egret...could see 3 across the river along the shoreline in Chelan
County at Confluence State Park.
Lazuli Bunting...one female-plumaged in a willow thicket at the rivers edge.

Good Birding,
