I was able to get up-close-and-personal with both the Buff-breast and the
Reeve at their appointed places this afternoon between 3 and 5 PM. The Buffy
was foraging actively with a couple of Least Pipers about 3/4 of the way
east along the south shore of the main Kai Tai lagoon. Also present were ca.
100 Western Sandpipers and a couple of Greater Legs. At the Three-Crabs
horse pond the Reeve (smaller than the dozen Short-billed Dowitchers nearby,
thus female?) was similarly cooperative. Ever noticed how similar in
coloration and pattern the Buff-breast is to the Ruff?
