Tweeters,
(I apologize for the late posting, but I had to scramble at work yesterday (9/4) afternoon.)

12:27pm start: Water level at 10.1ft
12:44pm end: Water level at 10.3ft

Highlights for today include the sighting of two juvenile OSPREYS returning and perching on the nest site while the adults perched on the west power tower. Shortly after this sighting, one of the adults and both juveniles took off and headed downriver. The COMMON MERGANSER family (1 ad; 7 juv) was actively fishing along the west bank of Turning Basin #3. When one of the young surfaced with a rather large fish and attempted to swallow it, one of its siblings kept harassing it, causing the one that caught the fish to drop it. I thought the flurry of activity as several of the young dove at the spot where the fish was dropped was hilarious. I saw none of them surface with a fish after that. Note: Although the PEREGRINE FALCON was not on the east tower during this period, I did see it at 7:05am. I also spotted several fresh Rock Pigeon feathers at the base of the tower.

Birds sighted today include the following:

Double-crested Cormorant
Canada Goose (14)
Gadwall (2)
Mallard (11)
Osprey (4)
Glaucous-winged Gull (3)
Rock Pigeon (17)
Belted Kingfisher
American Crow (2)
European Starling (<20)
House Finch
American Goldfinch (2)

May all your birds be identified,
