While working in Franklin County on 9/1 (yes, I was one of those poor saps
working on Labor Day) I found a LEWIS WOODPECKER on a power pole in
western Franklin County on private property at the west end of Harrigan
Road. This species is considered a rarity for Franklin County which lies
completely within the Columbia Basin. Washington Birder classifies it as
a 5, meaning fewer than 5 records.

A lone Burrowing Owl was standing along the east shoulder of hwy 283 0.5
mile north of Road 2 NW at dusk on 9/2.
