Only a bunch of birders would appreciate this:
I'm helping my "neo-birder" spouse add species to her life list, so today we drove to Port Townsend to search for the Buff Breasted Sandpiper. How many people do you know who get to add a Buffy AND a Western Sandpiper to their life list on the same day!
Our friend is indeed still there as of 2:30 this afternoon (Sept 6) hanging out with 3 Killdeer about 50 to 100 feet to the right of the little bridge as you face the large pond from the parking lot. Also in attendance were 2 or 3 Great Blue Heron, mucho Crows and a variety of colorful "mutt" ducks. Chickadees were heard in the brush, but we weren't there to look at the brush.
