We had a juvenile BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK feeding in our Blue
Elderberry bushes Sunday, 9/7/03 and a few migrants moving through such
as CEDAR WAXWING and DARK-EYED JUNCO.
My wife and I decided to check the Steigerwald Lake Refuge and
saw 3 GREAT EGRETS, 21 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 3 LESSER YELLOWLEGS in the
ponds which have as little water in them as I have ever seen.
We had unsatisfying glimpses of the CLAY-COLORED SPARROW in the
weed patch between the last two barns despite much searching.
