Sightings for Sunday, September 7 - 9:00 PM update.

BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER (Salmon Arm)
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER (Vernon)
STILT SANDPIPER (Salmon Arm)

Sightings for September 7

A GREAT EGRET was seen in the marshes N. of Vaseux Lake (CC,BL,CS,m.ob).

In Vernon, the juv. SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER continues at the Mackay's
Reservoir (CS).

Along the Salmon Arm Foreshore, 2 juv. BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS were in the
rocks just beyond Christmas Island and a juv. STILT SANDPIPER was off the
dog park at the foot of Narcisse Road (DC).


Sightings for September 6

Single juv. SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen both at Salmon Arm and the
Mackay's Reservoir near Vernon (CC). The bird in Salmon Arm was seen on the
mudflats from the foot of Narcisse Road. The bird at Mackay's was at the
south end.

Also seen from the foot of Narcisse Road in Salmon Arm, were two STILT
SANDPIPERS (CC). To see the shorebirds at this location it is necessary to
walk about a km out on the mudflats.

At Christmas Island, in Salmon Arm, the ad. CLARK'S GREBE was seen (CC).

A pair of MAGNOLIA WARBLERS were reported in the community of Willowbrook
near Okanagan Falls on the 5th (BG). Details were few, but the birds were
seen in the SW. portion of the community.


Sightings for August 30

Up to 4 GREAT EGRETS have been reported over the past week in the marshes at
the N. end of Vaseux Lake in the South Okanagan (BL,m.ob).

A female type AMERICAN REDSTART was in the deciduous trees at the SW corner
of Mackay's Reservoir on the Vernon Commonage (CC,CS,DW).

A FRANKLIN'S GULL and 15 COMMON TERNS were seen from the pier in Salmon Arm
(CC,CS,DW).

2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS were at Mahoney Lake, on Green Lake Road, near OK
Falls, on the 26th (LN).

In a late report, a pair of WHITE-HEADED WOODPECKERS were seen along Green
Lake Road, at the W. end of Green Lake on August 6 (RC,CaC).
