This is a classic example of how conservation is becoming increasingly
complex and difficult. And, as Pogo has pointed out, the enemy is us.
But there is one positive thing we can do (wherever we live and bird)
and that is to donate, give up some of our time, and speak with our
wallets. Support the conservation organizations that are trying to save
habitats of ALL kinds. Impossible? It has been said in Canada at least,
that if 5 % of all people left 5 % of their estates to charities, there
would be no need for fundraising. So with more commitment from us, we
might have fewer of these agonizing decisions, and instead more
decisions about which habitat might be saved next.
