Wow! I got so many replies to my question about whether jays mimic redtails
that I couldn't respond to everyone personally so I'd like to thank everyone
who e-mailed me. Every extra bit of bird lore I can get is greatly
appreciated. I was not only told of jays mimicing red-tails but also
red-shouldered hawks, ospreys, meadowlarks, goshawks and even starlings.
Opinions were expressed as to why they do so but the consensus was 1.) for
fun and 2.) to annoy birders. Thanks again everyone!
