John,

(I'll see if I can get this in ahead of Connie!)

One of the BEST birding spots with good avain density in a small area in right in Seattle. The Montlake Fill is a jewel. Check with Connie Sidles via Tweeters for some advice about timing.

Hi tweeters,

since I don't get out actually BIRDING (as opposed to relocating banded
crows) as much as I'd like, I wanted to ask for suggestions for a field
trip this fall with non-birding students. I was thinking of Spencer
Island as a high-diversity area (the theme of the course is biodiversity)
and I can talk about both breeding species and migrants. Any other ideas
within 1-1 1/2 hours of Seattle that doesn't involve too much hiking?
Anything I need to know about S.I.? The students will all have binoculars
and we'll have one scope with us.

thanks,
