Thursday 9/4/03 9:41 am. Tom Aversa. There's a juvenile CHIPPING SPARROW over
at Montlake Fill. It was near the main pond today. Also the number of
NORTHERN PINTAIL there has risen to 7 this morning. There's a couple of
adult PEREGRINES there.

Thursday, 9/4/03, 2:42pm Brian Bell, 425-485-8058. This morning on Mt. Rainier
we had the WHITE TAILED PTARMIGAN. They were located just east of the ice
field, east of Panorama Point, where some water comes down and there's some
nice fresh green vegetation. We had 4 birds there, 2 adults and 2 juveniles.
Very accommodating. We watched them for about 45 minutes or so and they were
not showing any nervousness about us. Nice to see them around. Good birding.

Friday, 9/5/03, 5:58am Greg Toffic 425-338-1746. Yesterday morning, Thursday
the 4th on Fir Island at the Jensen access, there were four GREATER WHITE
FRONTED GEESE.

Friday, 9/5/03, 6:09pm Greg Toffic. Today I went to the Olympic peninsula to
look for the RUFF and BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER and I found them both, and they
were very cooperative and I got great looks at both of them. It was a nice
experience and a lovely day. On the way back I took the ferry to Whidbey
Island and on the Port Townsend side of the crossing there was a very rufous
juvenile jaeger which I believe to be a PARASITIC JAEGER. Good luck and good
birding.

Friday, 9/5/03, 10:10 pm Jim Flynn, 206-399-6418. In addition to the birds
that Greg Toffic mentioned in his report, the RUFF and BUFF-BREASTED
SANDPIPER, there was also an american golden plover at the 3 Crabs area. This
bird flew into the pasture which is behind the barn next to the 3 Crabs horse
pond. We were barely able to view it from the road, sort of in the raised
area where all the roses and other flowers are planted. It is private
property and we were able to see the bird better after getting permission from
someone who was working there. So the bird may be visible in the area and
something to watch out for. Also we did have one PARASITIC JAEGER off the
boat launch area near the 3 Crabs.

Sunday, 9/7/03, 6:06pm. Bill Tweit. Today Tom Schooley and I found an adult
NORTHERN PARULA in nothern Pacific Co. just south of Grayland, south of the
Grays Harbor county line. The bird was off the Warrenton-Cannery Road, about
one-quater mi west of the highway, north about a tenth of a mile on Douglas
Rd, near the corner of Douglas and Cypress. We saw it today about 1:00pm.
Other birds were 425 MARBLED GODWITS at Tokeland. And at Bottle Beach we had 1
PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER and 2 RED KNOTS. Thanks.
