Salutations from Bainbridge,

Brad Waggoner found the Golden-winged Warbler yesterday (Thursday,
September, 11th) at about 4:30 pm. He was able to obtain excellent video footage
of the full adult male warbler as it foraged in some Indian Plum shrubs.
I joined Brad this morning at 6:45 am and we relocated the bird and
observed it well for about a minute at 7:15. The warbler flew into some dense
shrub- cover, and since I had a class to teach at 8:00 and Brad a job site to
get to, we left the scene. Gene and Nancy Hunn arrived about 8:30 am and spent
the entire day with a number of other birders searching for the GW Warbler to
no avail. However, six other species of warblers were seen (Orange-crowned,
Black-th. Gray, MacGillivray's, Yellow, Townsend's, and Yellowthroat), as well
as a number of other migrants. I returned to the scene at 4:00 and searched
for another 2 hours without any luck. So the last sighting was September 12th
(today) at 7:15 am.
Ian Paulsen's directions to the site are excellent. Please be
respectful of the private property in the area, and good luck. I am heading to Ocean
Shores for the weekend, so I will not have up-to-date information on the
bird. If anyone else sees it, please post that sighting. Thanks.

Good birding,

George Gerdts
