Adding a few additional examples to those relayed by Gary Bletsch and
others of the poor job of proofing done by the editors of the
Olsen/Larsson gull book, I noted the following during a cursory look:

Though the color maps are beautifully generated, the map for
Bonaparte's Gull (page 469) erroneously shows them breeding well into
Minnesota and Wisconsin -- something that has never even been
suspected in Minnesota and for which there are only a very few
unconfirmed reports from Wisconsin.

Also under Bonaparte's Gull, the author states that the species
"peaks [in] Minnesota and Michigan Sep-mid-Nov." Actually, by
mid-November most birds have left Minnesota, and only a few will be
lingering on some of the larger lakes.

Looking at the maps again, Franklin's Gull seems not to nest in
Minnesota, though we actually have a substantial breeding population.

The breeding range for Red-legged Kittiwake (page 577) is completely wrong.

Great Black-backed Gull has nested in Wisconsin and is an annual
winter visitor to Minnesota, though you would not know this from the
map.

On the table of contents, "California Gull" is listed as "Californian Gull".

In the Preface on the next page, there is an extraneous line break.

The letter "t" is missing from the word "this" on page 14, (last
word, second to last sentence on the page).

To be consistent with the rest of the book, the boxes on pages 37 and
41 should be light orange, but are for some reason colored gray.

There are more many examples (both egregious and trivial) of the
surprisingly poor job done by the editors and reviewers. Let's hope
for a better job on the second printing.
