On Sunday, 9/14/03 my wife spotted an strange looking bird flying
over our property which turned out to be another LEWIS' WOODPECKER. This
was only the second individual of this species we have had at our place,
the first being on 9/1/03. The bird perched in the top of a fir and we
were able to put a scope on it and watch for about fifteen minutes as it
sallied into the air flycatching.
Other birds here today were 75 CEDAR WAXWINGS, 3 ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS, 5 BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS, and 1 MCGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER.
