Ed and tweeters,

There appear to be some Gray Jays at fairly low elevation year round in Thurston County. I have seen small groups fairly regularly on the outskirts of Tenino (which is roughly 300 ft. above sea level) probably no more than 100 -200 ft. above the Scatter Creek valley floor, and within a mile of the Rock Candy Mt. entrance to Capitol Forest. On the other hand, there seems to be a great deal of jay movement this time of year, which might help account for them showing up in your yard in town.

I had four Grey Jays at my feeder in West Olympia this afternoon. Isn't this early for them to be this low?
