Today at Columbia NWR I had a flock of four sandpipers being harassed by a N Harrier. Three were obviously Pectoral Sandpipers, the other was quite similar but was an almost rosy buff on the breast and neck, had a stronger supercilium, and a more solid cap. I can't say for sure it was a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper because I didn't have a scope and only 8X binoculars, but that is my best guess. The flock flew from Marsh Unit 1 to Migraine Lake (looking south from the Soda Lake Dam, 2 miles south of Potholes Reservoir) and I thought I could get closer, but they flew farther south and settled out of view. Anyone in the area needs to scope the area well for these birds. If they're smart they will fly to the Para or McCain Ponds and sit there for awhile so we can get a better view.
