I and a friend are planning a trip to Corpus Christi and environs from
December 2-12 for the purpose of seeing whooping cranes and any other
fabulous birds we can find. Can any of you who have gone to texas in
the winter give me pointers on what you think is a must-see place? I
have lots of maps, including the Coastal Texas Birding trail ones, and a
couple of books, but they are all at least 5 years old, and nothing
really beats personal experience.

We currently plan to spend 2.5 days in the Brownsville area, hitting the
Sabal Palms and the coastal NWR (Laguna A. something). For the rest of
the time, we have a condo in the Corpus Christi area (actually on Padre
Island, if I can trust the address) and are open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any help,
