Hello,

Today I saw a Great Egret along the Waatch River in Clallam County on the Makah Reservation at 2:30 p.m. My husband and I had just returned from the short hike down to Cape Flattery and were driving along the open area the river flows through between the town of Neah Bay and where the road to Cape Flattery enters the forest. I can't remember if this is a spot someone has reported one from but I don't think so.

There's no mistaking what this bird was. It was hanging out at the edge of the river just upstream from a bridge, amongst some Canada geese and perhaps 50 yards downstream from a Great Blue Heron which looked no more than a few inches taller than it. After we watched it for perhaps 5 minutes, it flew off downstream and over the bridge, and landed at the river's edge just downstream of the bridge.
