Oh, come on Tim, what would tweeters be without a good arguement
every couple of weeks? :) You should'a been here five years ago...

Seriously, a couple suggestions: to Glenn, this subject has been
thoroughly discussed on tweeters already. Several people said how
much they disliked the use of codes, several others defended them on
various grounds. The end result is, not much has changed. I
understand your frustration, and share it to some extent, but really,
in the greater scheme of things, this isn't all that important. If it
doesn't interest you to take the time to figure out the codes, then
just skip the message. There are lots of other messages on tweeters
that don't use the codes, and if some really good bird shows up, you
can be sure it will be mentioned more than once. (And btw, DEJU=
Dark-Eyed Junco, SPTO= Spotted Towhee).

To Tim: I'm a great believer in freedom of speech. It's Bruce's right
to post with codes if he chooses (and I'd rather see him continue to
post with codes than see him stop posting), and it's Glenn's right to
complain about it if he wants. But there is nothing in
freedom-of-speech that suggests that you are required to listen. So
if you see "codes" or "abbreviations" in the subject of a post, it's
easy enough to just delete it unread, (unless you're reading in
digest mode, in which case you'd just page down to the next message).
There are a few subjects that have been banned from tweeters because
thay always devolved into name-calling; I, for one, hope that there
are no more, because I very much appreciate the wide range of
subjects and opinions that are expressed here.
