Dear Tweeters,

A Great Egret was present every day near Hamilton (Skagit County) through yesterday, after first being spotted around the 13th inst.; since I live nearby, I have gone to check on it daily. The Great Blue Herons have been chasing it quite a bit, and today it was not there. If it comes back I will advise; the last time we had a Great Egret in the autumn here, it stayed for a long time.

It is a lovely spot to look at birds there (by SR 20 mile 76.2) but unfortunately the traffic noise is horrific. This morning there were seven Wood Ducks, a Belted Kingfisher, a Spotted Towhee, and a Brown Creeper there, and those were just the birds one could find in a quick visit, while bracing oneself against the tornadoes kicked up by passing log trucks.

Good birding,

Gary Bletsch

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
