A BLACKPOLL WARBLER was seen 16 Sep at Lyons Ferry State Park, Franklin Co
WA by Charlie Wright and Frank Boesche. Lyons Ferry is along WA 261 at the
corner of Franklin, Whitman, Walla Walla and Columbia counties. WA DeLorme
55, D-7.

SABINE'S GULLS were numerous and widespread this past week. One was seen 16
Sep on the Columbia River at East Wenatchee WA by David Beaudette; 2 more
were seen that same day on the Walla Walla River Delta in western Walla
Walla Co by Mike and MerryLynn Denny, along with a single PARASITIC JAEGER.
The delta can be accessed 0.1 mile north of Madame Dorian Park which is just
north of the jct of US 12 and US 730. There's a pull-out along US 12 at
milepost 306.9 and a path to the delta. WA DeLorme 40, D-1.

On the 17th the Denny's found another SABINE'S GULL at Bennington Lake east
of Walla Walla, WA. Dave Beaudette saw the East Wenatchee bird again on the
17th along the Loop Trail along with a juvenile WHIMBREL and a PARASITIC
JAEGER. To get to the Loop Trail at the 27th Street entrance, from WA 28 at
the East Wenatchee city limits head west on 19th Street NW to Cascade
Avenue, then north to 27th Street NW. Then west on 27th Street NW for about
0.25 mile to the 27th Street Entrance Loop Trail Parking.

On the 18th Dave, along with Roger Johnson, found 3 more SABINE'S GULLS at
the East Beach on Soap Lake, Grant Co WA. Soap Lake, near the town of Soap
Lake, is north-northeast of Moses Lake. WA DeLorme 68-69, A right on the
crease. On the 20th, Dave Schoenwald found a single gull at Potholes State
Park along with 17 SANDERLINGS and 2 more gulls at Migraine Lake in Grant Co
WA.

On the 21st, Dave Beaudette found 3 more SABINE'S GULLS in Douglas Co WA at
the pullout on WA 173 at milepost 10.2 about 0.4 miles east of the south end
of the Columbia River bridge at Brewster.

Craig and Judy Corder report 800 KILLDEER at Cold Springs NWR in Umatilla Co
OR on 17 Sep. That's probably the only way Killdeer will ever be reported on
this hotline. Also there was a single SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and a good
variety of other shorebirds.

Over the weekend at Mann Lake, east of Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID, up to 2
AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS were seen by several observers. Carole Vande Voorde
also reports a single GREAT EGRET. There are 2 ways to Mann Lake: the scenic
route: Mann Lake, Nez Perce Co ID. From the north end of Lewiston, follow US
12 south into town, cross the Clearwater River on Memorial Bridge and
immediately take the first left (east) toward East Lewiston. Turn left
(east) onto East Main Street and go about a half mile to the flashing yellow
lights. Turn right (south) onto Lapwai (a.k.a. Lindsay Creek) Road. When
the road forks stay right on Lindsay Creek Road (Nez Perce County Road 460)
and follow it about 5 miles to its terminus at Grelle Avenue. Turn left
(east) onto Grelle Avenue and just past the sharp right curve, turn left
(east) onto East Powers Avenue (a.k.a. Lapwai Road). Continue straight
(east) past the grain towers to the main parking lot. The urban route: The
other way is to cross the Clearwater River, stay left at the first light and
take 21st Street up the hill. Follow it until it turns into a 2-lane and
then turn left onto Powers. Follow Powers to the grain towers. ID DeLorme
