Sightings for Tuesday, September 23 - 9:30 PM update.


The Featured Birds Include:

PACIFIC LOON (Penticton)
SURF SCOTER (Penticton)
GREAT EGRET (Kelowna)
CASPIAN TERN (Penticton)

Other birds mentioned include:

RED-THROATED LOON
Common Loon
Vaux's Swift
Western Tanager
SABINE'S GULL
American White Pelican
American Pipit
Wilson's Snipe
Long-billed Dowitcher


Sightings for September 23

In Penticton, a male and a female SURF SCOTER were seen on Okanagan Lake at
the SS. Sicamous (CC). Also there were two feeding CASPIAN TERNS (CC). The
RED-THROATED LOONS were last seen from the Sicamous on Sept 20 (LR,LN,ED).

An adult breeding plumage PACIFIC LOON was seen from the marina on Okanagan
Lake in Penticton (CC) and another adult in breeding plumage was seen from
the Pyramid Provincial Park between Summerland and Penticton (CC).

In Kelowna, a GREAT EGRET was found in Mud Bay, at the Maude Roxby Bird
Sanctuary (..CC) The bird was with gulls on the sandbar in the bay.


Sightings for September 17

Two RED-THROATED LOONS, an adult in breeding plumage and an imm. were seen
on Okanagan Lake, in Penticton, from the SS. Sicamous (FW,LN). Seen from the
dock in front of the Lakeside Resort in Penticton, were 7 COMMON LOONS and 2
PACIFIC LOONS (LN).

Migrants at the rose gardens near the SS Sicamous in Penticton included 8
VAUX'S SWIFTS and a WESTERN TANAGER (LN).


Sightings for September 15

A SABINE'S GULL was seen flying S., towards the Maude Roxby Bird Sanctuary,
in Kelowna, from the Floating Bridge (DC).

In Summerland, an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was seen at Powell Beach Park on
the 14th (ED) and 2 CASPIAN TERNS were at Kickininee Park, between
Summerland and Penticton on the 13th (ED).

30 AMERICAN PIPITS were near the Johnston-Bentley Swimming Pool in Westbank
on the 13 (DM) and at the S. end of Duck Lake, in Kelowna, on the 13th, was
a LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER and a WILSON'S SNIPE (JM).
