The Washington Ornithological Society would like to announce the following
field trips:

Saturday, October 4th, 2003 Bart Whelton will lead a trip up Pass Creek
Pass and maybe to Grassy Top looking for Boreal Owls. This area holds the
greatest concentration of Boreal Owls in the state of Washington. Limit
not more than 5. Call Bart at (509) 747-0161 (leave voice mail as Bart
will be gone for extended periods of time). This is a tough hike, about 10
degrees and expect to be up most of the night. Three-mile hike, possibly
longer if Grassy Top looks good which is another 2 miles.

Saturday, October 4th Howard and Thais Armstrong will lead a trip to
Island and Snohomish Counties. The focus for the day will be fall
migration of shorebirds with stops at English Boom on Camano Island and at
The Nature Conservancy property at Port Susan Bay. Target birds will
include Ruff, Stilt Sandpiper, and Sharp-tailed Sandpiper. Limit of 8
birders. For details contact Howard and Thais at(360) 766-6657 or email
godwits at yahoo.com.

WOS Field Trips allow members to explore places or revisit familiar
haunts. Each trip is open to a limited number of participants. Each member
may join up to four trips per year (excluding annual conference trips).
Non-members may attend as a member's guest once per year. Questions about
field trips should be directed to the trip leader(s). If you would like to
lead a field trip, or would like to suggest a location for a field trip,
send a note to FieldTrips at wos.org.
