This afternoon my mother and I spent a few hours between 2:30pm-5pm checking two birding locations near Kent,including the Boeing Plant area mitigation"ponds(accessed from both 59th Ave. S and 66th Ave. S north of 212th Street near Kent)and the "old"Kent Ponds(GRNRA). Our main highlight of several noted was a single male Redhead observed from the "grassy knoll" at the "old"Kent Ponds. In general good numbers of waterfowl were present at all locations consisting of Am.Wigeon,Gadwall,Mallards,Northern Shovelers, Northern Pintails,and Green-winged Teal. We made a short hike to the most southern observation tower at the "old"Kent Ponds,which overlooks a great portion of the western portion of the complex just north of the paved walking trail.
