Subject: Dash Point today

Greetings Tweeters,

I wandered down to Dash Point County Park's fishing pier this
afternoon
(9/29) with my dad. We had extremely wonderful close views of the
juvenile
SABINE'S GULL which remains here, feeding on bait that the fishermen
have
dropped. The bird was in view constantly during our stay, one time
flying
as close as eight feet from me, and never more than 150 yards from the
pier.
What an incredible way to view this graceful seabird.

Other things I viewed from the Dash Pt Pier between 2:45 and 4:45pm
were:

Western Grebe (12)
Parasitic Jaeger (3)-all light morph ads.
Bonaparte's Gull (9)
California Gull (6)
Herring Gull (1)
Common Tern (18)
Common Murre (1)
Rhinoceros Auklet (20)

Cheers and good birding
