On return from a week trip I had a few notable summer lingerers at the place
today. First was a SWAINSON'S THRUSH heard at dawn twice, the latest I've
had one here; then also notably late was a single "WESTERN" (PACIFIC-SLOPE)
FLYCATCHER amid a flock of passerines right in the woods by the house. This
was one of my three latest-ever for WA, although once I had a "Western" type
down along the coast on Oct. 1. Then a WESTERN TANAGER came by about
mid-morning; this was less surprising, given that several times in recent
years we've had single birds stay into the first week of October.

Lastly, a belated entry for Sept. 22: 5 VAUX'S and one BLACK SWIFT fly by
heading southward, low overhead.
