I was quite interested in Ed Newbold's report of a Great Egret on the Waatch
River at Neah Bay over the weekend. I, too, reported that three of us
observed one on the weekend of the Olympic Beaches Cleanup, that was either
the last weekend of April or the first weekend of May. Those of us who
spend time on the Makah Reservation need to be particularly watchful for
this species. It will be interesting to see if we can document sustained
presence this far north on the Olympic Peninsula.
