Hi Tweeters,

Andy Stepniewski, John Hebert and Richard Repp found a Black-bellied Plover and an American Golden-Plover at Wenas Lake Sunday afternoon. Fortunately Andy was able to get through to me on his cell phone. About all I heard was "we are schchchch Wenas Lake schchch and schch golden-plover schchchch Black-bellied shchchch (schchch = static). I was there 32 minutes later and managed to get some photos. Monday evening I got there earlier, finding Richard already there. An American Golden-Plover was also there, which I think was a different one than Sunday's. Photos of all three are on my website:

They are in the Plovers folder in the Shorebirds folder. The two photos taken Sunday are a little odd. My camera somehow set itself on an unusual setting. I guess you have to be smarter than the camera.

Richard visited the lake again today and the golden-plover was still there.

This is big stuff for Yakima County. There have been three previous sightings of Black-bellied Plover and one golden-plover sp. seen in Yakima County prior to these.
