Hi Tweets, I raced out to Wenzel Slough Rd. this evening after work to see
the Loggerhead Shrike. I arrived at the site where the shrike has been
frequenting around 5:15pm. Around 6:00pm, the shrike appeared and I along
with Alan Richards were able to get great views of it while it moved around
the bramble patches. Here's a few other species we saw or heard while
watching the shrike:

-one single Northern Rough-winged Swallow flying over the Chehalis River
-Blue Grouse heard hooting in the area
-male Common Yellowthroat
-pair of Osprey near nest located in the Chehalis Wildlife Area (one Osprey
was gathering nest materials)
-Bald Eagle (on nest)
-several Snipe winnowing

It was a nice evening! I'll be trying for the Sandhill Cranes in the
morning!

Good birding,
