Tweeters,
Nice day, but the breeze made it a bit too cool for the new Hawaiian shirt I wore. A male GREEN-WINGED TEAL (the first since January 5) was just northwest of the goose-exclusion area. Both OSPREYS were on the nest platform for a bit, and one stayed at the edge of the nest during the entire scan. For the second day in a row, a GREAT BLUE HERON was feeding, this time just to the south of the power substation. A harbor seal surfaced, then sank, near the goose-exclusion area.

(At 10:15am, three Ospreys were in the area: one at the nest platform. A second was on the west power tower, but flew off when the third Osprey flew up and landed next to it. The second bird then flew to the east power tower, shortly followed by the third bird, which landed very near to the second. The second Osprey then flew south, circling overhead, then over Turning Basin #3, then coasting upstream. The third Osprey eventually flew to TB3, turned, and flew back downstream to land on the nesting platform. It appeared as if the second Osprey I saw was an interloper.)

Birds seen during this scan include the following:
Canada Goose (2)
Gadwall (4)
Green-winged Teal
Common Goldeneye
Common Merganser (3; what I took to be a pair near the power substation, and a lone female that swam past me)
Double-crested Cormorant
Great Blue Heron
Osprey (2)
Mew Gull (16; 7 were feeding near the pier south of the power substation; the others were loafing/sleeping just to the east of the goose-exclusion area)
Glaucous-winged Gull (8)
Rock Pigeon (14)
American Crow (6)
Violet-green Swallow (2; overhead - the first I've seen in my immediate vicinity this year)
European Starling (5)
Song Sparrow (2)
White-crowned Sparrow (3; one nearby, the others across the river)
Red-winged Blackbird
House Finch (2)

May all your birds be identified,
