Hello:

The Terminal 105 ospreys are back! That's the nest that is just north of
Herrings House Park, south of the West Seattle freeway. This morning, I
spotted one bird on the nest, looked away for a second, and saw two birds on
the nest, side by side. A few minutes later, he flew off and returned to the
nest with a very small fish.
Since there have been several recent reports of purple martin arrivals, I
decided to stop by Jack Block, just in case. I knew there had been a major
cleanup of contaminated material there, but I wasn't prepared to find that
all the pilings where the purple martins nested were gone! Getting rid of
contamination takes priority, of course, but that was *the best* place to
watch the martins last year. (Sigh)
