Greetings,

This morning my wife and I did a dry run for a trip I'm leading next week for Tahoma Audubon. It's still loads of fun to bird with a relative newcomer! Kathleen saw her first Brant today when we stopped out on the point on the reservation. A nice flock of 7 of them grazing in the short grass within scope range. She also picked up her first Tree Swallow and her first Lesser Scaup. We're not sure how she managed to miss these two earlier, but 3 life birds in one morning is fun stuff. :-)

Along the way we met up with the first Common Yellowthroats I've seen this year, the always stunning Cinnamon Teal, and three different Picids within in a few yards of each other. The Red Breasted Sapsucker nearly landed on me! It settled for a branch at eye level about 12 feet away, and stayed for some good close looks. A few Turkey Vultures overhead and all the usual suspects. Now if we can just keep the best stops from flooding before next Saturday....
