The developers of Trilogy at Redmond Ridge built a viewing platform on
the edge of a very large wetlands accessible directly from the King
County Regional Trail System. The wetland is bordered on the north by
the Redmond Watershed and the south by a wooded greenbelt that
separates it from the Trilogy golf course. Several times in the last
few days I have set up my scope and watched a great deal of bird
activity. There is an active beaver lodge and dozens of tree snags.

The highlight yesterday was watching a pair of Hooded Mergansers
exploring a nest hole in one of the snags. Yesterday also provided a
Red-Breasted Sapsucker and Pileated Woodpecker. Lots of Virginia Rails
calling. Many Tree Swallows.

The platform is accessible to the public by following the Regional
trail from where it crosses Novelty Hill Road. Follow the trail east
about a quarter mile as it parallels the golf course. The side trail to
the viewing platform is clearly marked by a sign.
