Good Morning Tweeters-
We had some thrilling bird visitors this weekend. They seemed to come in pairs.

A pair of Red-Tailed Hawks soared over the area high on a jet stream. They played with each other as they swooped high and low.

The Fox Sparrow has a mate. He has been alone most of the spring but she showed up yesterday. They are quite playful.

We spotted a pair of Violet Greens starting a nest high in a Pileated tree hole.

Three Red Breasted Sapsuckers flew from tree to tree. Flickers are feeding on the rotting alder trees as well.

The Redbreasted Nuthatch returned to the suet feeder. He seemed to have left us for a couple of weeks. We did not see his mate. They are usually together. Maybe she is on a nest?

The pair of Rufous Hummingbirds continue to occupy the yard. The male roars though like the speed of light. All day Sunday I could hear him zoom by and do his swoops and chirping. The female is much quieter.

The Robins were everywhere. We counted 8 in the yard at one time. The Robin with the bad leg is still hanging out. I thought he had lost the leg, but it is just hurt. He brings it down from time to time so we think he is on the mend. Yesterday he was sitting on the rock in the birdbath resting his leg.

Stellar Jays scolded each other all day long.They have been frequenting the suet feeder.

Pine Siskins, Junkos, Chickadees and House Finches are the regulars. Still waiting to see the Goldfinches.

A Spotted Tohee lives in the rhododendron bushes. He eeeps and then gingerly comes to the suet feeder.

A flock of about 6 Kildeer flew over the neighboring skunk cabbage which was very pungent in the hot weather.

But where are the bees? I have not seen a single Mason or Bumble yet. Usually the blueberry flowers are covered with them by now.
